President Ray Boutin announced that Mr. George Zink of Wonalancet, founder and first president of the MWV Skating Club, has been awarded a lifetime honorary membership by the board of directors. Mr. Boutin also unveiled an engraved cobblestone at the Ham Arena honoring Mr. Zink for his commitment.
MWVSC Honors George Zink Finally tonight and most importantly, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to, and honor an individual who did everything possible to make the Mount Washington Valley Skating Club a reality. In March of 2001 a group of interested individuals met to form this club. A number of us worked long and hard to ensure that the residents of Mount Washington Valley would have skating instructional programs in place and a means to test and compete as a member club of the U.S. Figure Skating Association, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating. However, no one worked harder and longer than the one individual we would like to single out for recognition this evening. Had it not been for the dedicated commitment and tireless efforts of George Zink much of what has been accomplished in the last two years would not have been possible. We would also like to recognize and extend our thanks to Sally Zink for her patience and understanding during the many hours George was occupied with club activities. The fact of the matter is the board of directors of the MWV Skating Club with heartfelt gratitude wishes to bestow upon the founder and first president of the MWVSC, George Zink, a lifetime honorary membership. Also for all who come to Ham Arena in the future we wish to present George with a permanent memento to further express our thanks. We believe this recognition will serve as a reminder to the community of Georges selfless work on behalf of the MWVSC.
