5th Annual Spring Fling Skate Basic Skills Competition

Location/Time:     Ham Arena, 87 West Main Street, Conway, NH 03818; 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Eligibility:    The competition is open to ALL skaters who are current eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the Basic Skills Program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating. To be eligible, skaters must have submitted a membership application or be a member in good standing.  Members of other organizations are eligible to compete but must be registered with the host Basic Skills Program/Club or any other Basic Skills Program/Club.  Eligibility will be based on skill level as of closing date of entries. All Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills skaters through Basic 8 must skate at highest level passed and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed including MIF or Individual Dances. Skaters in other events may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher BUT not both levels in the same event during the same competition.  For events that are “Beyond the Basics”, Beginner, Pre-Preliminary and Preliminary, the U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook #1032 applies.        

Practice Ice: Two sessions are available: Session I (Snowplow–B8) is from 12:00-12:25 PM $7.00; Session II (Freestyle 1 and higher) is from 12:25-12:50 PM $7.00 Practice ice is available on a first come, first served basis. Please pay when you get on the ice with exact change.  Additional practice ice may be available on competition day.  No Program Music Will Be Played During Practice Ice.

Music:         The music for all free skating programs must be provided on CD only and be clearly marked with the name of the skater, event entered and length of music.  Competition music is to be turned in at the time of registration. Time duration is always ± 10 seconds.  We recommend that you bring more than one copy of your music.

Awards:        Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and ribbons for 4th, 5th, and 6th place.

Deadline:     All entries must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2008.  Late entries will be accepted only if space is available, at the discretion of the Program Director.

Entry Fees:  Entry fees must accompany the application form.  Entry Fee for the first event is $30.00, and each additional event is $15.00.  We reserve the right to eliminate events due to ice availability and skater participation.  Please make checks payable to MWVSC and return with application to Ray Boutin, PO Box 115, West Ossipee, NH 03890 by deadline.

ALL ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE (Unless the request is for medical reasons or the event is eliminated by the MWVSC.)

Schedule:    Will be posted on the Official Bulletin Board no later than five days prior to competition. Information regarding groups and skating times will be mailed to competitors prior to the beginning of competition.
