Green Mountain Open March 2, 2002 Eight skaters representing the Mount Washington Valley Skating Club (MWVSC) made a successful trek earlier this month to South Burlington, Vermont where they competed in the Green Mountain Open held at the C. Stacy McAllister of Brownfield, Maine captured a total of three medals including silvers in compulsory moves and compulsory spins at the pre-preliminary level and a bronze in pre-preliminary free skate. Gold medals were awarded to Stacy Boutin of Ossipee in basic skills, level 6, Kayleigh Corrigan of Kearsarge in basic skills, free skate level 4-6, Kristine LaMontagne of Bartlett in basic skills, level 2, Shannon Ryan of Freedom in basic skills, level 7 and Vicky Weigold of Glen in basic skills, level 5. Grace Ryan of Glen tied for silver in basic skills, level 4. Unfortunately Abbey Gutowski of Conway sustained an injury during the warm-up for her event and was forced to withdraw. However the club reports she is back on the ice and was able to resume practice less than a week later.
