MWV SKATING CLUB SKATERS TEST AND COMPETE

With the Ham Arena in its annual spring "ice out" and the Mount Washington Valley Skating Club in its "Spring Break" from skating lessons, it is again time to recognize those club members who represented the Club in test sessions and competitions over the past season. Most recently, on April 10th, the MWV Skating Club hosted a USFSA test session attracting skaters from 4 New England Skating Clubs. Among the MWVSC testers were Carson Behr and Abigail Novia who passed the Pre-preliminary Moves-in-the-Field test; Kate McPherson who passed the Pre-preliminary Moves-in-the-Field and Freeskate tests; Shannon Nester who passed the Pre-juvenile Moves-in-the-Field test; and Melody Nester who passed the Masters Adult Bronze Moves-in-the-Field test.

Three MWVSC skaters also represented the club in skating competitions during the past season. On 1/15/12 Kalaryn Chavez traveled to Falmouth, ME where she competed at the Pre-preliminary level in the 12th Annual Snowflake Skate competition hosted by the North Atlantic Figure Skating Club. She followed this up on 2/12/12 by competing, again at the Pre-preliminary level, in the Bay State Games hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Participating in the Adult Winter Challenge Figure Skating Competition hosted by the Colonial Figure Skating Club in Boxborough, MA on 3/17/12 were club members Melody Nester who competed in the Pre-Bronze Freeskate event, and Madeleine Ryan who competed in the Bronze Freeskate Event.

The Mount Washington Valley Skating Club applauds all of its skaters who have challenged themselves working towards passing a test or representing the club in a competition. Its mission continues to be to provide quality skating instruction to skaters of all ages and abilities regardless of their current level or future goals.

Summer session classes are scheduled to begin the week of 6/24/12.
